27TH ANNUAL ABBOTSFORD BUSINESS EXCELLENCE AWARDS

Presented by the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce and The Abbotsford News. 

The Business Excellence Awards recognize outstanding organizations and individuals in Abbotsford that strive for excellence in our community. Business Excellence Award recipients are Leaders in their industry with a commitment to Customer Service, a concern for the Community, and a passion for Innovation. 

This year's 27th Annual Abbotsford Business Excellence Awards was held on November 16, 2023 at the Clarion Hotel & Conference Centre. Congratulations to all the nominees and award recipients!

2023 Award Recipients

Home-Based Business Excellence – This award honours a licensed, home-operated, business where the proprietor experiences the rewards and challenges of operating a business from their home.  The recipient demonstrably shows, by proficient practices, that their business is not a hobby.  The recipient conducts their business with professionalism and integrity with a strong focus on customer service.

Award Recipient: Fraser Valley Basket Co.

Tourism Excellence – Awarded to a hospitality-tourism business or organization that provides exemplary service, products, or attractions to Abbotsford visitors. This business strengthens the vision of Abbotsford as a destination with their product/service. The recipient has demonstrated outstanding achievement in a restaurant, hotel or recreation sector. The recipient is an Abbotsford tourism leader who actively encourages the growth of Abbotsford.

Award Recipient: Maan Farms Market & Estate Winery

Manufacturing & Production Excellence – Awarded to an Abbotsford manufacturer or producer, big or small, operating in any industry sector.  The award recognizes businesses that are using effective strategies to improve competitiveness and profitability. The recipient is on the leading edge of best practices and constantly updates processes to remain competitive and profitable.

Award Recipient: BE Power Equipment

Consumer Services Excellence – This award recognizes a company that provides services in the business-to-consumer sector. The recipient demonstrates a consistent adherence to excellent business practices necessary to deliver the highest quality service and support to their customers.  The recipient company executes best practices in all areas of their operation to ensure the maximization of their capabilities and capacity.

Award Recipient: Hugs in a Mug Coffee Bistro

Indigenous Business of the Year – This award recognizes a company that is indigenous-owned and operated that is demonstrating excellence in any industry sector. The business must be at least 51% Indigenous-owned and operated.

Award Recipient: Wingerz Food Truck

Agricultural & Agri-Business Excellence – This award recognizes excellence in the Agriculture and Agri-Business sector.  The recipient is an agricultural-focused business that consistently demonstrates achievement in the area of their business focus.  The recipient has the characteristics of a successful business with diversification, innovation, sound business practices, workplace safety, and community involvement as part of their corporate identity.

Award Recipient: Aright Greentech Canada Ltd.

 

Entrepreneur of the Year – This award recognizes an entrepreneur who has built a successful business, either as a startup or a scaled venture. The recipient inspires others with their vision, leadership, and achievement.  This award celebrates those who are building and leading successful, growing, and dynamic businesses.

Award Recipient: Brian Neufeld

Non-Profit Organization of the Year –  This award recognizes excellence in the Non-Profit sector.  Open to any organization that is a not-for-profit organization, society, or charity dedicated to making a difference within the sphere of their stated goals and objectives.  The recipient has an outstanding record of achievement and meets the highest ethical standards of the non-profit community.  The recipient shows a high level of care and concern for the community and has elements of social enterprise in their corporate culture.

Award Recipient: The Reach Gallery Museum

Business of Doing Good – This award recognizes excellence in community impact by a private-sector business.  The recipient is recognized as a leader, with a solid reputation, in the community, as well as with the public at large.  The recipient is able to demonstrate a tangible and sustained impact on environmental, social, or governance indicators.

Award Recipient: Abbotsford Restorative Justice and Advocacy Association

New Business of the Year – Awarded to a business established within the last 3 years in Abbotsford, that has demonstrated outstanding characteristics in key areas of business performance measurements.  The recipient demonstrates leadership, innovation, and sound management practices culminating in exceptional outcomes.  The recipient shows a high degree of professionalism and an entrepreneurial approach, which underpins their success.  The recipient is considered a rising leader in their field of expertise or industry sector.  This recipient is able to demonstrate significant business success, indicated by the achievement of goals and targets, along with a clear vision for the future.

Award Recipient: Prestige Physiotherapy and Sports Medicine

Established Business of the Year – Awarded to a business with full-time employees that has been established for more than three years.  The recipient demonstrates a high degree of professionalism and performance in key measures of business success.  The recipient is a leader in their field of expertise or industry sector.  The recipient business shows a substantiated history as an established business while exhibiting sustainable growth over numerous business cycles.  The recipient shows a passion for innovation and adopting a process of continuous improvement.

Award Recipient: Blackwood Building Centre Ltd.

Company of Young Professionals and Entrepreneurs Award – Awarded to an outstanding professional or entrepreneur under the age of 40. The recipient inspires others with their vision, leadership, and achievement.  This award celebrates those who are employed by or building and leading successful, growing, and dynamic businesses.
