Abbotsford Celebrates Chamber Week 2018

The Province of BC has proclaimed February 19-23, 2018 Chamber of Commerce week to recognize the outstanding commitment of your Abbotsford Chamber in supporting local business, boosting economic development opportunities, and providing essential resources for business in our community.

“Chambers – and their members – are the people who power BC,” said Mark Warkentin, President of the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce. “Whether that means acting as a cheerleader for local businesses, being an loyal advocate for members, or stepping in at the right moment with an great benefit or resource, Chambers have been supporting businesses and communities for over a century.”

Right now, your Chamber is leading the effort to advocate for widening of Highway 1 through the Fraser Valley. By bringing forward resolutions to both the BC and Canadian Chambers we are calling on the Provincial and Federal Government to take expedient action on this important issue. Highway 1 is a transportation corridor of national significance to both BC and Canada’s economic strength.

Your Chamber is a valuable tool in providing local insight on the business environment and economic drivers in Abbotsford. Our community as whole benefits from understanding the issues facing the people who power BC.

As a member of the BC Chamber network, we have been contributing on a provincial level, creating winning policy recommendations to be presented to the provincial government, such as reinstating the Small Business Tax Credit for Credit Unions, amending the ALR regulations to provide balance for the craft brewery and distillery industries, assuring tax fairness in the sharing economy, and the phase-out of PST on electricity for businesses.

As BC celebrates Chamber Week 2018, don’t miss the opportunity to join our Chamber Week events, and celebrate the many ways BC Chambers strengthen our communities and economies by powering the people who power BC.

The Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce represents 700+ members and is THE voice for business in Abbotsford. Our mission is to build and sustain a thriving business community through our strategic objectives to Advocate, Benefit and Connect.
