Welcome to our website! The Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce is THE voice of business in Abbotsford, for our 700 members and those businesses who are not yet members.
Our Chamber does three things.
Advocate: we advocate on behalf of business, especially Abbotsford business as it relates to our municipal government. We also advocate at the provincial and federal level through the BC Chamber of Commerce and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce. This means speaking up on behalf of business on issues like red tape, taxation, over-regulation, and community planning.
Benefit: we have a variety of benefits for our members such as group insurance, opportunities to promote your business, education, and member-to-member savings. Ask any of our staff for details of the many ways we can save you money.
Connect: we host events and create opportunities to connect members with each other and the community. Our events regularly include our municipal, provincial and federal elected officials, along with other business and political leadership. Look for our Business After Business events —stop in on your way home from work! — and our Chamber luncheons — why eat lunch by yourself? Personally, I can say this is one of my favourite benefits of the Chamber. I get to hang around with fellow members who have become great friends.
If you are new, make sure to introduce yourself to me, other board members, or our staff. We want to make sure you are welcomed and included. For all members, there are plenty of ways to become involved. We particularly value your input and advice within our committees: our Agriculture Committee, Government Affairs Committee, and Not for Profit Committee meet monthly. All members are welcome to attend and join in the discussions. These committees often identify issues that need work, which become policies for our advocacy.
I am honoured serve as President, and on behalf of the board we welcome you and look forward to working on your behalf.
Mark Warkentin, President
