(ABBOTSFORD) May 17, 2024 – The Fraser Valley Business Coalition is proud to announce that Premier David Eby will be attending the first Fraser Valley Economic Summit, hosted at the University of the Fraser Valley in Abbotsford B.C. on Tuesday May 21st. The Premier will be providing an official government address to the 200 business leaders attending.

“When the people and businesses of the Fraser Valley succeed, our entire province succeeds. This region is an economic driver for British Columbia, and we are focused on building a strong economy that benefits businesses and the people who keep them running,” said Premier David Eby. “My team and I are focused on helping small and growing businesses succeed with relief for everyday costs, strengthening health care and housing, supporting B.C. agriculture and increasing food security, and enhancing the transportation and infrastructure like highway 1 that keeps our goods and people moving.”

“The Fraser Valley is powerhouse economic region with enormous untapped potential. Our Coalition collectively represents thousands of businesses, but we know that we cannot seize the region’s economic opportunity without strong partnerships.  This Summit will ignite the momentum across our growing communities to ensure all eyes are on the Fraser Valley,” said Alex Mitchell, CEO of the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce on behalf of the FV Business Coalition. “The priorities for the Valley are clear – from key investments in trade-enabling infrastructure to an increase in skilled training opportunities for our workforce, it’s time to deliver a bold economic vision for our future.”

“UFV is extremely pleased to be a host and partner for this important economic summit,” said Dr. Joanne MacLean, UFV President and Vice-Chancellor. “As a gathering place for learners, leaders, and seekers, we embrace this opportunity to facilitate community connection and prosperity, locally and beyond.”
